A MasterMind GT10 Controlled, Ableton Sequenced, 8x8 Matrix System built for Annie Clark - St. Vincent.
A 2 pedalboard system to serve the aesthetic & logistic needs of a touring musician. Each half of the rig travels in a Pelican case under checked weight cut off to facilitate greater net revenue from touring. With the entire audio path responding to MIDI commands the "Signal" board lives offstage with the guitar technician & the controller board onstage at Annie's "home position".
A series wired true bypass switching pedalboard system for a Toronto wedding band player. An ideal set up for the "working" player who needs hardware to help him cover a variety of playing styles.
The client came to us with a list of criteria, Great Tone, Portability, Easy Set Up & Tear Down, No Tap Dancing. Before working with us the client had purchased a Musicomlab Switcher to help with his criteria, but became frustrated by the process. We were able to step in and utilize the previously purchased hardware to help the client achieve his desired result.
Rack System for Guitarist Bruce Howell of the band DVDA, better known as the score music on South Park.
Given the constantly changing demands of the producers for the show's musical score, the rig has to be flexible in it's routings, and allow for super fast access to different sounds. The signal flow is a basic "4 Wire" config with Wah, OD's & Comps before the pre-amp and & "Wet" effects on the effects loop of the amp.
To increase the flexibility of signal in this rig, we inserted a 16 In x 16 Out audio matrix in both sections of the 4 Wire. This allows for infinite combinations of OD stacking and parallels and varied use of the Compressors as limiters or sustainers. In the Wet stage of the rig the matrix allows for infinite routing combinations of Pitch, Reverb, Delay & Modulation effects in Stereo.
Built for St. Vincent Keyboard & Guitar Player - Toko Yasuda
A MIDI Controlled Series Wired pedalboard featuring the RJM Music MasterMind & Mini Effect Gizmo.
Another one of our Ableton Sequenced pedalboard systems following in the style that we established for St.Vincent at the beginning of the Strange Mercy period. Once presets are built in rehearsals the sequence then takes over telling the MasterMind what presets to load and when, allowing the musician to focus on performance, not tap dancing on a pedalboard.
Bassist Tim White of the Headstones came into our shop with his pedalboard and asked us to "fix it up". I think we did okay.
We were contacted by a Rush super fan that wanted a guitar rig specifcally copied from the "Snakes & Arrows" period.
We made a few design adjustments to accommodate for the non-performance aspects of this particular rig, no Palmer Speaker Emulators for DI input from power amps. We also subtracted the 2nd Hughes & Kettner SwitchBlade amp & cabinets. Half stacks for each amp rather than full stacks.
The player is using his Gibson Les Paul Axcess Alex Lifeson Signature Edition guitar with the split outputs for Magnetic & Piezo pickups. We were also able to help the client source a Bill Nash built Telecaster Prototype with the same Bridge, Piezo & Magnetic Pickups as the Gibson Les Paul Axcess.
Built for Session guitarist extraordinaire Rob Piltch, also a member of the avant garde cabaret combo Nick Buzz, and The Art of Time Ensemble chamber orchestra.
A series wired compact pedalboard that in it's road case is small enough to fit in the overhead luggage compartment on a jet.
Custom wiring, Latching Connection I/O Boxes, Buffer Circuit, Clean Boost Circuit & System Mute by Nice Rack Canada.
We recently built this system for Guitarist Jimmy Shaw of Metric.
The controller board is at Jimmy's home position onstage and the effects offstage. Due to the size of aircraft often involved in the bands logistics, a pedalboard format was preferred over a rack system.
A series wired true bypass pedalboard for Metric Bassist Josh Winstead.
A "Wet/Dry/Wet" Pedalboard with Switchable 4 Wire Configuration.

A Series & Parallel Wired Pedalboard with a Signal Order that can be Dynamically re-Routed in real time. The compressor can be switched between the start and the end of the pedalboard signal chain. The Fuzz & Wah order can also be reversed in real time.

A series wired pedalboard for Dick Cooper of The Cooper Brothers.
After spending some part of 2012 in the studio with long time Nice Rack client Colin Cripps, Dick Cooper was ready to take the next step in putting together a great sounding, lightweight, tone heavy pedalboard.
One of the more powerful guitar rigs we've ever built. A compact Rack System with a Dynamic MIDI Control Surface, Audio Matrix & MIDI Matrix allowing for Reconfigured Routings Per Preset. This rig is available for studio rentals in the Toronto area. Please contact us for more information.
The audio patch for the system is routed through a Sound Sculpture Switchblade GL 16 x 16 Matrix that can be reconfigured per preset. The local memory in the Switchblade hold 125 presets, with the native programming application storing a total of 1000 presets. The routing possibilities are absolutely infinite in real time, with the mouse driven native software allowing the rig to rerouted via mouse clicks in seconds.
A repeat client of our asked us recently to build him a "Jack White" pedalboard system. Got Loud???
At the customer request we wrapped an RJM Music MasterMind MIDI Controller with the client's supplied artwork...
