Building Carts Instagram

Our clients, Metric are starting this current touring cycle with a few weeks of shows opening for Imagine Dragons in North American arenas.

With very tight changeover times, the band’s 3x Keyboard Rigs, Bass & Guitar rigs + Drum kit had to be moved on & off stage as quickly as possible.

Aside from our normal rig building services that we provide to Metric, Nice Rack Canada was asked to design and execute the implementation of hardware that would facilitate the fastest possible changeover times. Our vendor, Audio Video Metals was able to do the fabrication for us on a tight turn time.

The Keyboard & Amplifier (not shown here) carts we designed allow the synths, pedalboards, amps, & speakers to stay attached to the carts for the duration of the tour. Multipair custom cables were built for each cart with latching connections to the carts.

The entire backline of 3x Keyboard Rigs, Drum Kit, Bass & Guitar rigs roll onstage & off as 6 pieces.

Upon completion of the show, the keyboard carts receive their aluminum slip covers to protect the synths in transport. The guitar & bass racks are lidded, looms coiled to the carts and tied down. The 5 carts then roll into the truck ready for another quick unload and set up the following day.

We designed 2x “Single” carts for Keyboards with a Dave Smith Instruments synth per. Each with a lower deck for pedalboards and loom cabling to reside during transport.

We also designed a “Double” keyboard cart for singer Emily Haines, “90 Degree” array of Nord Keyboards & Sequential Circuits Pro One. The cart has to roll up and down a 31″ wide ramp for changeovers & load ins, so the cart has to remain in it’s “Straight” position for the logistics and then articulate into it’s “Right Angle” stage configuration.

With years of rig building, and touring experience on the resume, Nice Rack Canada can engineer solutions for many of your music equipment function criteria.
